Description

A sublime car coat from Rainbow Country’s California Mfg label.

Design: Based on a simple but unique 1940’s coat. “French” split seam detail across chest. Full action back with half belt. Side adjustment buckles at the half belt. Two slash handwarmer pockets, two interior slit pockets.

Leather: 1.3mm / 3.25oz vegetable tanned horsehide. Brown base with black water-based pigment lacquer finish. It has an oily, glossy sheen and beautiful character right out of the box. Will develop beautifully as the black lacquer slowly wears away to reveal the brown core.

Lining: Custom Melton wool through body. Will confirm but I believe plaid cotton flannel in sleeves.

Hardware: Custom nut buttons for closure and at cuffs.

Fit: A trim, comfortable jacket. Typically take your standard size. According to the size charts from Rainbow Country, runs similar width but longer body length than the Hercules. The action back increases the effective space in the jacket. If you’re between sizes or want room for heavy layers, I recommend sizing up. See the measurements from Rainbow Country below. I’ll measure jackets directly once I have them in hand. *Some variation from the stated measurements is expected given the nature of handmaking a garment from robust materials and differing methods.*
